EDS (e-Auction Design Service) is a Sole Proprietor business of which I am the only employee. I work "primarily" as an Independant Consultant hiring out my skills to individuals and small businesses on a per job or contract basis.

I am very knowledgable about eBay rules and regulations. For the eBay seller that uses eBay to make a few bucks every now and then, that is no big deal. If you are a seller that has a large eBay presence (eBay Store, ProStore Website, etc.), that is a very important statement. There are MANY, MANY ways to lose your shirt on eBay ... I am knowledgable about most of them.
eBay Security is a MAJOR ISSUE for eBay sellers. eBay has many tools in place to protect your identity from theft or misuse. Do YOU take the same precautions?? I have found the answer to THAT question is in most cases a resounding NO! Don't let not knowing the "details" get you into trouble with your online eBay business.

E-auction Design Service is, a small, individually owned business that depends primarily on "word of mouth" advertising for its clients.

E-auction Design Service has been "listing" (creating ads for others) on eBay Motors and eBay for over seven (7) years. I was a salesperson at a local Ford dealership when I learned about eBay motors. I promptly went to work for a company that took photos and did eBay listings under dealership accounts.

There was just one slight problem with that position. I was out in the HOT SUN entirely too much. I can see y'all rolling your eyes but keep in mind that at the turn of this century I had just moved back down here from Alaska and yes the sun was a bigger factor than I remembered. Sooo ... I went to work for a small, AIR CONDITIONED, antique shop as a "lister" on eBay selling antiques, fine art, and collectibles. It was there that I really LEARNED what it takes to list items on eBay and make a profit while doing it!!

The common perception of an "eBay Lister" is that it doesn't take much in the way of knowledge or skill to be a "lister" ... Even I boast that it isn't rocket science. However, to be able to create ads about a product of which you know little or nothing about takes considerably more knowledge and skill than writing an ad for something that has been in your possession all of your life. Taking one picture and sticking it in an ad won't help sell a $100,000.00 classic vehicle or a $900,000.00 prototype space shuttle, but it will work on that little "widget" out there in the garage.

I have learned many things since I started listing items on eBay. One of my biggest lessons was about "eBay Consignment Store" operations. An eBay consignment store is just what the name implies ... you bring your items into the business and that business will then list them for you on eBay with varying consignment style arrangements. I learned that a busy eBay consignment store, one that maintains an online eBay Store, has a significant amount of resources tied up in computer equipment, Broadband connections, editing software, photography equipment, and a shipping and receiving department. I have helped sell everything from Antiques to Space Shuttles (yes a Russian Bor 5 Prototype Space Shuttle that had actually been into space) with great success.

I stayed with this small antique shop (who in reality is a MAJOR Powerseller on eBay) as a "lister", graphics designer, website designer, network administrator, and security specialist for a couple of years before going into business for myself. I still have a working relationship with that shop doing "custom listings" for them as well as being their "contract" IT Manager. I also have a number of accounts that have me list Motor Homes, Recreational Vehicles and other types of vehicles for them ... as long as it is a "high dollar" item, I will list it.
